Counselling and  Psychotherapy Services

Taking First Steps

This is where our journey begins. Understand who I am and what I can offer and my commitment to a  professional yet warm and approachable service.

My name is Andrea and I offer a range of specialised counselling services tailored to meet your individual needs.

My aim is to  help you manage and overcome your challenges, and improve your mental and emotional well-being so you can reconnect with your daily life with increased positivity, compassion and authenticity. Exact goals may vary depending on the type of therapy and the individual, but usually incorporate several core aims, such as reducing distress, increasing self awareness, developing coping strategies, changing unhelpful patterns, improving relationships, supporting personal growth, and processing difficult experiences.

My approach is rooted in empathy and understanding and as an integrative counsellor, I utilise techniques from various psychological and counselling modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, Transaction Analysis, Positive Psychology and Person-Centered Counselling. My Background

Following a diverse career in law and property, my counselling journey began when I became a listening volunteer with the Samaritans in 2018. The seemingly simple act of listening and being present with someone in their time of need, stirred my desire to go further, and to understand how I could help more directly and in a meaningful way. I began my counselling training and haven't looked back.  My experience has included counselling at a well known local mental health charity where I have supported adults of all ages with varied issues and difficulties, and more recently, counselling in primary and secondary schools where I have supported children with referrals from GPs, schools and parents.  I also carried out research into hoarding behaviours and I am keen to continue to support those affected. I also have a  particular interest in attachment and identity issues, as well as supporting those struggling with loss, including pet loss.

My Counselling Qualifications

MSc Psychology (Distinction) with thesis research on hoarding behaviours Northumbria University (2025)

BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Newcastle upon Tyne (2022)

Samaritans Volunteer (June 2018- December 2019)
